The day I gave my life to the Lord - I was at a Christian conference hosted by an American evangelist.

I was about 4 months pregnant at the time and had been in an abusive relationship.

A friend of mine had started talking about God to me and he showed me a video of this evangelist - well, I said if I'm meant to be at teh conference i'd see my frined there.

I had no money for the trip, but my ex's sister sent me train fare........I found my friend there ....I can't remember what was being preached at teh time, but it was as if this man knew all about me and what I'd gone through.

It was really amazing I had this amazing feeling go right through my body - from the top of my head, through to the soles of my feet - literally.

It was a huge wave/ rush through my body - like a cleansing, all my dispair and frustion was lifted and I couldn't stop crying - tears of joy, relief an dthanks giving ...... I'm was soaking in tears .... amazing trully amazing.................

Even the next day when I went to vist this woman's church I ended up standing up and declaring I was returning the following week to be baptised.....now, trust me I didn't plan to say that - I just did..........

The pastor was shocked, but thankfully recognised it as god moving and about four or five of us ended up getting baptised.

Now I know there's usually stages and teaching to go through before baptism - which the other people had undertaken, but I believe god moved quickly with me because of my circumstance.

My daughter has shown to have a powerful gift and I know the day I gave my life to God, he took control of my daughter too.

Her name was given to me by God, I was shown it in the Bible and she nearly died twice, when she was 6 weeks old and 7 months old. She stopped breathing on both occasiona and her grandad resusitated her.

God is good and His mercy endureth forever, Amen!

So, my experience was to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and water baptism within a very short space of time.

Oh yes, we can literally feel GOD, and the Lord JESUS said that The Helper will be with us forever! we just need to remain in His Presence. We have to admit that yours came so quickly. GOD bless you and enjoy your gifts!

Baptism of the Holy Spirit takes place upon receiving Christ as your Lord and personal Savior according to Ephesians 1:13 and Romans 8:9. I believe when I got saved several years ago, I was indwelt by the Holy Sprit on my day of salvation of course nothing dramatic compared to other people but things started changing in my life-John 3:8 and 2nd Corithians 5:17. Yes, I know as believers we can quench and hinder the Holy Spirit to work through us by the choices we make in our spiritual walk. Living in sin, not reading the Bible and put it to practice are some things which can quench the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the third person in the trinity. He is not "also" God, He is God. During creation when God declared, "Let's us make man in our image and likeness..." God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit were present. He has been active from the beginning and will always be though in different scenario. Some believers still live their lives as though there are not saved simply because they are quenching the Holy Spirit unfortunately we have churches like that-Revelations 3:20. The name "Holy Spirit" is not a magic word contrary to the notion which is out there. Pneumatology is the study of the Holy Spirit.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues is real and happens even today...the promise was not only for the 12 discliples but for all who believe. If you don't believe, well, that's you!!

Let me just caution here on the discussion that Baptism in the Holy Spirit usually goes with alot of other things to do with spiritual gifts, miracles (things that Pentecostals/Charasmatics are known for) and rarely will you find a person embracing one but rejecting the other. Hence, those who do not beleive in it and have not experienced it will be in opposition to it. But those like me who have experienced it and are living with its reality, know that it is real!!
