Nope I don't mean that not an OS... Like day to day apps.
You have to design systems to real life situations... correct me if I'm wrong. And I will check the JNode Project I'[ve never heard of it.. and thanx by the way for replying.

I see what you mean. System design is really fascinating. Have you read Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software by Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson, John M. Vlissides? Otherwise is good place to start, irrespective of the language.
