This morning, I was watching my local news channel and enjoying my 1st cup of coffee. The story was about childhood melanoma (skin cancer) and how rapidly the children are being affected with skin cancer at such an early age...(As early as age 2!)
Anyways, the news anchor had asked the mother of the child how she "broke the news to her daughter that she was sick with cancer...?" Well, needless to say, I blew coffee out of my nose and mouth when I heard the mother's answer.... Mother: "I sat my daughter down (whom was 6 years old) and told her that GOD had given her this desease because he seen something special in her and she could help other people with the same problems handle it." Needless to say, I was ticked off at this woman. How dare she BLAME God for her daughter's illness...How can she say that our LOVING God gave a child a deadly desease? Just imagine, the child ( QUITE POSSIBLY ) hating the true God for her illness because of her mother's words. So, what would you do in a case like this? How would you tell your child that they have a deadly desease? Would you tell them that God gave it to them? Would you blame God? Or would you think back to the GARDEN OF EDEN and the serpent's lies....Where ALL sin originated from? Posted by Ray

I agree with your point Ray; I would tell her that God wants to heal people and read her the scrip-tures that prove it, and there are many.

You would be surprise to know how smart and understanding some six y.o. are these days and the questions they`re asking,... First i would remind her of how much i love her (which she would have already know) things i have done for her because of my love for her, help her to underestand that God loves her more than i do (she would be surprise if she was`nt told so b4)..i would also told her the story of Job or better yet read it to her so to help her understand that bad things happens to persons who love God and also love God aswell..

HI Ray, I can understand what you are saying and yep it is easyer for people to blame something they can't see.
However I have struggled in the past 4 weeks and I am still struggling with coming to terms that my mother is about to die. Watching death right in fromt of me, I often get to wonder WHY is this happening to my mother who is such a beautiful person that doesn't deserve such a thing like Cancer. I have had all the emotions. And John please I am not trying to be rude but when you say ... you would say God wants to heal people? Could you please explain as The way I feel right now and seeing my mother the way she is I don't see any healing going on. People I don't mean to be dissrespectful, I don't mean to have doubts ect but it is very hard right now to think that a person so great is suffering and badly my question I keep asking is Please take her quick so she doesn't suffer. Gary, please show me one place where Jesus said to anyone ' your sickness is for God's glory, just accept that it's part of some mysterious plan for your life'; He healed all who came to Him. The bible says "Is anyone is among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. Confess trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed." (James 5:13-16)

Just remember back to the Garden of Eden...Who was the tempter? Satan. It is because of him that people grow old, get sick and die. Was this Jehovah's plan for your mother or anyone else to die? NO... I have lost my Father to cancer. I know what you are feeling. You feel hurt, remorse, anger, defeat and like the whole world has turned against you...nothing anybody can say will ease your pain BUT ONE PERSON can ....and his name is Jehovah.
He didn't cause the sin, but he can ease your pain. Remember his own Son died for all of us...He (Jehovah) felt anger, he felt pain....(It is written in the Bible about the Thunder) Also, guess what you have to look forward to, seeing your mother and all the other loved ones that you have lost again in the resurrection. You can and should have hope in that. "AND GOD WILL WIPE EVERY TEAR FROM THEIR EYE, FOR THE FORMER THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY, THERE WILL BE NO MORE SICKNESS, NO MORE DEATH, NOR SORROW....." Please, don't blame God for this. It is Adam and Eve who started this thanks to Satan.... and Jehovah will end it. Posted by Proud momma

Romans 8:28 ALL THINGS work out for GOOD who loves GOD.
We musnt blaim no one, but know that our body is still subjected to death, sickness and other unpleasant things on earth by our sinfullnature that we inherited from Adam and Eve. If we become sick, we can pray in the name of Jesus for healing and wait what this prair will do in our life. WHatever happens it will work out for our good. God can turn sickness or any other suffery in life, to something good for our lives. I was asmatic for twenty years. All the suffering was nothing compared to the blessings to know my Saviour and Lord Jesus. Dont become bitter, we serve a living God, Jesus Christ. Our suffery will not be in vain. Romans 8 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our BODY. 24 For we are SAVED by HOPE: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with PATIENCE wait for it. 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings wh ich cannot be uttered. 27 And HE that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that ALL THINGS work together for GOOD to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
