Topic: Premarital Sex
„Denn das ist der Wille Gottes, eure Heiligung, dass ihr meidet die Unzucht und ein jeder von euch seine eigene Frau zu gewinnen suche in Heiligkeit und Ehrerbietung, nicht in gieriger Lust wie die Heiden, die von Gott nichts wissen.“(1.Thess 4,3)
PREMARITAL SEX:From popular entertainment one could easily conclude that sexual activity OUTSIDE MARRIAGE is he norm rather than the exception today. In motion pictures and television programs people seem to meet and go to bed in rapid succession. And there is widespread acceptance of the idea that people should experiment with several sexual partners. Many believe that such activity is not only normal and healthy, but helpful in preparing for marriage. The Bible straightforwardly condemns adultery and fornication(Exod 20:14 and 1 Cor 6,18);and even though most people today are unlikely to accept biblical authority on the matter, there are good reasons for waiting until marriage and staying faithful afterwards. One,of course,is the risk of causing pregnancy or of acquiring a sexual transmitted disease which is eather incurable,or fatal,or both.Another is the fact that it is IMPOSSIBLE TO DUBLICATE OR PERFECTLY ANTICIPATE A MARRIAGE RELATIONSHIP.Marriage involves total commitment between two people on a temporary basis,a commitment that is permanent and exclusive. It is impossible to make a permanent commitment on a TEMPORARY basis,or an EXCLUSIVE commitment to more than one person. Most important of all,sex has the capacity both to express and to generate the deepest feelings of which human beings are capable.Any sexual activity which ignores or seeks to avoid this capacity is destructive. We may think of it as recreational sex,OR JUST FOOLING AROUND,but it inevitably LOWERS OUR RESPECT FOR OURSELVES AND THE OTHER PERSON INVOLVED.And it empties the experience of real meaning.(Entnommen aus dem Buch “Reign of God”,second edition von Richard Rice-An approach to Christian Theology from a Seventh-day Adventist perspective)
